Giving thanks to some wonderful people.

Some lovely folks have stepped up recently to ensure there is food in your bellies and shirts on your back at the Web 2point2 event next week so I wish to give a big ‘thanks’ to our new Alpha sponsors; Yahoo!, oDesk and The WELL, and to the Personal Bee who has signed on as a Gold Web Release sponsor.

I also realized I had not given proper (written) thanks to our sponsors who had stepped up first to sponsor the Web 2point2 event. Your initial support gave us the belief we really could pull this off while doing something cool here. Sure we had two months to plan this time (compared to one week last year), but this one is a little bigger - and we are getting a little more adventurous with the format - so it is nice to have those extra weeks to put it all together, and your support to get us through that initial sticker shock. So, big hugs and a huge ‘thank you’ needs to go out to our venue sponsor, Microsoft - Beta sponsor Furl - and Alpha sponsors Fleishman Hillard, Joyent, Laughing Squid, Loomia, SpotDJ, and Wordpress.

There has been some help on the non-monetary side and we wish to send a big ‘love’ to Blue Whale Labs for our kick ass t-shirt design, Future Works for some love on the PR side, Rate It All for always being there to lend a hand, BuzzLogic for the music support at the after party, Mighty Leaf for donating a box of my favorite tea, and SxSW for some link love.

Thank you all for your support. Thank you all for believing in us.

24 Connecticut upset fifth ranked Stanford 2 0, eliminating the host Cardinal from the NCAA women’s soccer tournament. The Cardinal (15 3 5) were looking to advance to the final eight of the tournament, but instead the Huskies (14 5 2) will be playing for a spot in the final four. They will face Florida State next weekend. The Cardinal made a second Sweet 16 in a row. The six Cardinal seniors depart after compiling 53 wins in their four seasons on the Farm. “It was just a weird game,” said Stanford coach Paul Ratcliffe, whose team outshot UConn 12 7. “I felt like we dominated the first half and Connecticut just was able to convert (its) two scoring chances. “I am so proud of the players (who) are moving on from this program, they are such great people.” Men’s soccer: Andrew Wiedeman scored off a…http://news-blog-for-you.com/
