Christine Reports on the Conference Hack Strategy

I have known about this happening for some time, but when Christine Herron added it all up, I was just astounded.  By reserving an open conference room at the O’Reilly Web 2.0 Conference Hotel, the team at Mashery got in front of all the same important people for $144,000 less than what conference sponsorship would have cost. I am very happy for our friends at Mashery, it was a very smart thing to do and as Christine says “its worth celebrating on behalf of scrappy entrepreneurs everywhere”.  Like all hacker wars though, I am sure O’Reilly and others will put up a better defense to keep the hackers out in the future.  In realizing “there is no box” the Mashery Team has earned a lot of respect in my book as a company that ‘gets it’.

[Disclosure] It was brought to my attention yesterday (at the Mashery room I wrote about here) that Fleishman Hillard, a firm I consult with, is actually handling the PR for Mashery. I had not realized this earlier because I don’t do any work on the account, but Mashery is on the same floor as the Social Media Club offices in the Looksmart building.

24 Connecticut upset fifth ranked Stanford 2 0, eliminating the host Cardinal from the NCAA women’s soccer tournament. The Cardinal (15 3 5) were looking to advance to the final eight of the tournament, but instead the Huskies (14 5 2) will be playing for a spot in the final four. They will face Florida State next weekend. The Cardinal made a second Sweet 16 in a row. The six Cardinal seniors depart after compiling 53 wins in their four seasons on the Farm. “It was just a weird game,” said Stanford coach Paul Ratcliffe, whose team outshot UConn 12 7. “I felt like we dominated the first half and Connecticut just was able to convert (its) two scoring chances. “I am so proud of the players (who) are moving on from this program, they are such great people.” Men’s soccer: Andrew Wiedeman scored off a…http://news-blog-for-you.com/
